KM_C224e-20150805092959    On the evening of August 2, an EBRSO Deputy was dispatched to the BREC park on Frenchtown Road.  The deputy came upon 18 year old Shane Fontenot sitting in a pickup truck at the park, smelling of alcohol and having slurred speech.  When asked if he had been drinking, Fontenot said he had some vodka before the deputy arrived.  When asked if anyone else at the park had been drinking, Fontenot confirmed that others had been drinking also, and he said he believed that, since he is an adult, he is allowed to give alcohol to the minors who rode with him to the park.  A fireman had contacted the deputy stating that a fourteen year old girl seemed to have been drinking alcohol.  She smelled of alcohol and was unable to form sentences.  She was taken by EMS for medical attention.  Fontenot, the accused, was also taken to the hospital.
The deputy contacted three girls aged 13, 14, and 15 who said the accused had picked them up and brought them to the park where he was drinking alcohol.  They also stated that Fontenot offered alcohol to the girls and to their friend who had been taken by EMS.  The three girls said they did not drink, and they asked the other girl and Fontenot not to drink.  When Fontenot and the other girl consumed the alcohol, the girls were worried for their health when they seemed to get very sick, so the girls called 911.
After being discharged from the hospital, Fontenot was read his rights.  He admitted to drinking and giving alcohol to the juvenile females.  Fontenot was transported to EBR Parish Prison, where he was booked and charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile, Purchase/Possession of Alcohol under 21, and Possession of Alcohol in BREC Parks.
