In response to the recent flooding in the City of Central, we at the City of Central Food Bank want our residents to know that we are here for you now and into the future.  The City of Central Food Bank is an independent food bank that relies on donations from our very generous community.        We have special flood relief bags and cases of bottled water for temporary assistance.  All you have to do is provide your photo ID proving that you are a Central resident.
For long term assistance you can fill out our application.  We understand that many of the documents that we require have been lost.  So, until January 2017 we are only requiring a photo ID proving that you live in the City of Central.
We provide assistance once a month to qualifying Central residents.  Our assistance is not limited to just groceries.  We also offer diapers, baby wipes, baby food and formula.  We also have disposable plates, disposable cups, disposable silverware, trash bags, cleaning produces, feminine hygiene products and toiletries.  (Upon availability of course)
We also offer special “Birthday Bags” for children ages 1-12.  These bags were created because every child deserves a special birthday.  These bags include cake mix, frosting, cups, plates, napkins, silverware, and candles.
When children are out of school for the summer we provide “Kids Bags”.   These bags are in addition to regular monthly assistance.  They are filled with kid geared foods and snacks.  Sometimes the bags include a special surprise!
We also offer delivery of monthly assistance to shut-ins and seniors who are unable to visit the food bank in person.
Beginning Tuesday, October 4th, the food bank will return to regular days. For the time being our hours will remain 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.  We truly appreciate your corporation and patients during the past weeks while our volunteers dealt with their own flood issues.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank some truly wonderful people in our community.  These people have continued to support the food bank so we can continue to assist the community of Central.  They are: Dr. Record, his staff and the Smiles For Life Foundation for their donation of $1,245.00, The Rubber House of Baton Rouge, for their donation of $300.00, Central Intermediate School, Patti Gerald, Patty Morgan and Betty Neyland for their donations of food.  Not to mention the donations from our community that is left at Winn Dixie and Zoar Baptist Church.  We were also privileged to receive donations of just about everything you could think of from Scott Rushing with Sanderson Farms and Jay & Lisa Payne of Central Plumbing Company.  Also, to Mia Freneaux of Central Speaks for her continued support.  She has supported the food bank by publishing updates and getting out word for the items needed for our food bank.   Please forgive me if I am forgetting anyone.  All of your continued support is greatly appreciated.
The City of Central Food Bank has served the residents of Central since 1988.  The mission of the City of Central Food Bank is to alleviate hunger in the City of Central. Promote awareness of hunger in the City of Central. Continue to develop and maintain a network for food acquisition, storage, and distribution of food in the City of Central. To seek out and collaborate with other organizations who share the mission to alleviate hunger in the City of Central.  We are here for the Central community today, tomorrow and the future.
Respectfully,
