Gold Star Mothers Tea

By  |

fullsizerenderb    On Sunday, September 25, the Geaux Seven Chapter of Blue Star Moms held an afternoon tea honoring local Gold Star Mothers.  After being treated to finger sandwiches, scones, and petit fours, the ladies were honored with a gift and a rose. Many thanks to Will and Dot Easely for offering their beautiful barn for this event.
Gold Star Mother's Day was designated on June 23, 1936 by a joint congressional resolution to be the last Sunday in September, and is a holiday that has been observed each year by presidential proclamation. Gold stars designate a son or daughter who has been killed while in active duty with our armed forces. This is to differentiate from blue stars, which represent a son or daughter who is serving in our armed forces.  Gold Star Mother's Day honors those mothers whose children gave all in defense of their country.
