In Memoriam: Martha Belle Songy Causey

img_9807    Our mother, Martha Belle Songy Causey, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday Sept. 19, 2016. She was born in Plaquemine, LA on July 10, 1927 to Peter E. and Elma (Sue) Songy, the second of three daughters. Martha graduated from St. John High School and Draughn Business College. She worked for attorneys John Laycock and Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson and Ethel Corporation. Martha married Arthur C. Causey (Art) on March 10, 1957. Art died on May 15, 1985 in an industrial accident. Martha enjoyed her volunteer work at Woman's Hospital, bridge, quilting, her family, her church, and her neighbors. She is survived by her children Stephen (Steve) and his wife Donna Causey, Alice Causey Connor and Jacqueline (Jackie) Causey. Her grandchildren Kacie and Hunter Causey, Jordyn and Maggie Pruett, Katie Holt, Leigh Lobello and Sean Connor, her great-grandchildren, and her sisters Elizabeth (Betty Lou) Roundtree and Barbara Jean (Toni) Glaser of Mount Vernon, Ohio. She is predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Peter E. Songy and her in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Causey. Pallbearers were Hunter Causey, Bill Holt, Sean Connor, Mike Glaser, Marty Mumphrey, and Lynn Roundtree. Honorary Pallbearers were Stanley Browning and Graham Reeves. Visitation was at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22, 2016 to at 8:00 a.m. with services at 11:00 a.m. Internment followed at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
