Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, unveiled its newest remodeled store in Central during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 26. Ian McLeod, President and CEO, shared before a crowd of guests, dignitaries, and employees that the Central store was chosen to be the first in Louisiana to undergo this extensive remodeling, and was selected because, with its history of over 30 years in Central, "this is the right kind of community to make this investment in." He stated that the loyalty of Central Winn Dixie's customers was a big part of the deciding factor.  He also complemented the hard work of all the employees and their manager, Megan Willis.  After the ribbon cutting ceremony, with Central High School's jazz band and ROTC key participants, customers enjoyed sampling all sorts of Louisiana products now featured at the store.
Mr. McLeod displayed with pride the newly refurbished produce section, now featuring locally grown vegetables from Liuzza and Eubanks Farms, set on beds of ice within 2 days of picking, as well as the newly renovated bakery and deli sections.  The wine and beer section now contains many local and international offerings, as well as a selection of beers that can be bought individually for custom made six packs.  The seafood department features fresh fish and shellfish from the New Orleans Fish House.  Gluten free and organic products have also been expanded. "It has the look and feel of an upscale market," enthused one customer. "We are focusing on freshness and value," Mr. McLeod shared, "Our promise is to provide great prices and great service to our Central Customers.  In a store that holds a lot of history and a deep connection in this community, we’re certain that we have the right team, right products and best values to deliver on that promise,” ·
