The Central Chamber Report: Chamber Member of the Year 2015 – Ross Tire and Service

2015 CMOY Ross Tire B    On Wednesday, March 9, 2016 the Central Chamber held its 2015 -16 Awards Luncheon. This year the Central Chamber awarded the “Chamber of the Year Award” and the “Chamber Lifetime Achievement Award.” The following criteria were used in helping to select this year’s award winners.   
Made an impact on the vitality and economic strength of the City of Central.
Evidence of generosity to our community.
Evidence of leadership within the community by the business and/or its employees.
Evidence of innovative thinking and entrepreneurship.  
    This week we introduce you to the 2015 CHAMBER MEMBER OF THE YEAR – Ross Tire and Service! Ross Tire and Service, founded by Lucky Ross, opened in Central in 2003.  A few years later, they acquired land and built a brand new facility on Greenwell Springs Road, here in Central. They have been a member of the chamber since the chamber was incorporated in 2005.  In 2006 Lucky served as the Chairman of the Board and later went on to serve as Treasurer, Chair the Krewe de Centrale Mardi Gras Ball Committee, and serve on a variety of other chamber committees.  Juanita has also served the chamber in a variety of roles and currently chairs the Ambassadors Committee.  The Rosses are always taking part in chamber activities and causes.  Their involvement has included: Serving on the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, the Ambassador Committee, the Membership Development Committee, the Health and Business Expo, the Krewe de Centrale Mardi Gras Committee and King and Queen Committee, the Travel Committee, and the sponsorship of the Chamber Central City Map, Directory, and Member to Member Discount Program. 
    Besides their extensive involvement with the Central Chamber, the owners and family of Ross Tire and Service continue to be involved in the community as well.  They are actively involved in Cooking in Central and serve on its board, the board of the Central Community Assistance foundation (CCAF), and the Central Rotary (which helps to support CCAF).  They also take part in and support student of the year, teacher of the year, and support staff of the year programs of our community school system and serve in the Bereavement Ministry of St. Alphonsus Church.  In 2009 they started “The Central Toy Box” which gives Christmas gifts to needy families in our community.  “The Central Toy Box” continues to grow in its impact in our community.
