In Memoriam: Hillery P. “Pete” Firmin, Jr.

    Hillery P. “Pete” Firmin, Jr. passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Lane Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Pete was born December 6, 1933 in Simmesport, La. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He was a retired residential and commercial contractor. Over the years he enjoyed working in the lumber, cattle, and swine businesses. He was dubbed a gentleman farmer with a kind and loving heart by those closest to him. He was dependable and devoted to helping others to a fault. 
    He will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, Virginia Forbes Firmin of Denham Springs; and his children, son, H.P. “Pete” Firmin, III and wife, Mandy of Greenwell Springs; daughters, Rhonda and Cecil E. “Eddie” Davis; Sonja and Dale Burks; and Sharon and David Pratka; and his grandchildren, Rae Anne Firmin, Pete Joseph, and Marlana Firmin, Rachel and Joseph Johnson, John Firmin, Nicholas Burks, Mitchell Burks, Clint Davis, Elizabeth Davis, Hannah Pratka, Hailey Pratka, Riley Corba and Lily Corba. And his children by marriage, Jeffrey LaBruzzo, Angela and David Phillips, and Annette Martin and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
    He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ruth “Sis” Gremillion, his sister, Genevieve Minton, his brother, Pic Firmin, and daughter, Rebecca Forbes, and in-laws, Ernest and Jewell Forbes. 
    Pallbearers will be: H.P. “Pete” Firmin, III, Pete Joseph Firmin, Nicholas Burks, Clint Davis, John Firmin, and Mitchell Burks. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Louisiana War Veteran’s Home, Jackson, LA, and staff for the past three years for their love and care.
