CAPA Corner: Break Room Talk

By  |

Whether you are a die hard, sold out and bleed purple and gold type of LSU Football Fan, a casual fan or anything else in between, you had to be impressed with the running game of Leonard Fournett in Saturday's defeat over Auburn.  Fournette carried the ball four 228 yards, showed tremendous foot work and bowled over opponents like they were toothpicks.  News media outlets have been buzzing, Tiger fans have been excitedly talking about it and I’m sure many places of work found the Fournette performance entering into their break room conversations.  As exciting as all this is, this performance will eventually fade into the background, emotional feelings and joy will dissipate and something else will have to dominate the break room conversation.  Well let me put your fears to rest.  There is a performance that remains unbeatable.  A performance that you can confidently discuss, knowing that it is timeless and remains unmatched by any!

This man carried a tree up the side of a hill, then proceeded to take on some of the most notorious of foes, proceeded to bowl over his enemies, defeated a power that had reigned for thousands of years and in the end finally emerged the champion! This might sound like a tremendous military campaign led by savvy military leader, but it is not.  This renowned individual is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ!

Over 2,000 years ago Jesus Christ carried a tree, called a cross, up the side of a hill, called Golgotha and proceeded to take on a notorious foe.  That foe, sin, had separated man from our Heavenly Father for thousands of years and that foe was soundly defeated.  Not only did He defeat sin, but he proceeded to bowl over transgressions, iniquities, sickness, disease and infirmities.  1 Peter 2:24-25 says, “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness — by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” NKJV Further Christ proceeded to defeat death, hell and the grave and disarmed principalities powers making a public spectacle of them.  Ultimately, Satan, who had reigned for thousands of years was soundly defeated!

We can rejoice that this victory is permanent. Unlike the previously mentioned spectacular athletic performance, the feelings, emotions, joy and benefits we receive from Christ’s victory are eternal.  This performance was motivated out of an intense love and provides a timeless performance to tell! Go talk up the break room!
