    Magnolia UMC, 16024 Greenwell Springs Rd., will hold its annual chicken barbecue on Friday, Oct. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $8.50 each, and lunch includes one-half chicken, coleslaw, Baked beans, roll, and cake or cookie.  BBQ tickets may be purchased ahead of time by calling the church at 225-261-2789; walk-up purchases on BBQ day are also accepted – but we always sell out!
    Magnolia’s annual Great Garage Sale will take place over TWO days this year: Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10. Sale opens at 8 AM both days and goes until 2 PM. Large sale will be held in MUMC’s gymnasium, at rear of church. Plenty of parking available! Proceeds of BBQ and garage sale benefit missions and ministry in the Central community.
    Come celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi and bring your pet to be blessed – on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 4 PM, Magnolia UMC, Greenwell Spr. Rd, Greenwell Springs, 70739. Cats, dogs, birds, reptiles – and livestock! – all are welcome to receive a blessing from our pastor. Representatives from animal welfare organizations will also be present with information and assistance with rescue animals and adoption. Call 225-261-2789 for more information.
