CAPA Corner: Your Favorite Day of the Week
What is your favorite day of the week? Why is that day your favorite day of the week?
My favorite day of the week is Sunday. Why? Because Sunday is the day I get to spend time with my fellow believers in Jesus Christ. Sunday is the day I join with other believers to bring worship to the One who gave His life for mine. Each Sunday as I join my congregation and I’m reminded that I now know my sins are forgiven in Him alone, I am reconciled to God through Him alone, and I am assured of eternal life in heaven because of the work accomplished by Him alone. The “Him,” of course, is Jesus Christ – the eternal, sinless Son of God. Sunday is the day I learn more about Jesus, worship Jesus, and enjoy fellowship with those who also know Jesus. Sunday is a very special day. It is my favorite day of the week.
Again, let me ask, what is your favorite day of the week? Maybe it is also Sunday, but for very different reasons than mine. Many look at Sundays and express, “that is my day; I have worked hard all week; I can do whatever I want on Sunday.” That is true if you aren’t a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. But if you are a professing believer and follower of Jesus Christ, what are you doing on Sundays? Are you captivated by the world and its offerings? Are you engaging in the ways of the world on Sundays like hunting, fishing, shopping, or going to some sporting event instead of going to church to worship the One who gave His life for yours?
My encouragement to you, if you truly believe that Jesus Christ is the only way, the only truth, and in whom alone is eternal life, then please be sure to spend each Sunday in church. Spend time worshiping the One who has changed your life forever, and who has changed where you will spend eternity. There are a number of churches in Central where you will hear about Jesus each Sunday. I encourage you to find a church in Central that teaches about Jesus as He is revealed in the Bible. Spend your time worshiping the One who loves you with an everlasting love, and you, too, will find that Sunday is your favorite day, too.
