Youth Group Coming to Help Central Area Residents

From Blackwater Methodist Church
One of the wonderful things about being a “connectional church” is that we are, well, connectional. That means that from time to time we will have opportunities to “connect” with other United Methodist churches, even those from other Annual Conferences. This June will be one such time. This same “connection” was made in 2009.
During the week of June 14 – 20, a youth group and their adult chaperones, 75 – 100 people from the Central Texas Conference Youth in Missions, will be staying here at Blackwater United Methodist Church. They will spend that week , Monday – Friday, working in our area. This is much like the kind of work our youth do at Weekend of the Cross each year. They will do minor home repair – steps, porches, sheds, doors, etc, – painting inside and out, windows and screens, minor roof repair and yard work to name a few. They do not do major projects, reroofing, plumbing and electrical, except for wheel chair ramps. The only qualification is that the person for whom they do the work must own their own home. They do not work on rental property.
If you need work of some kind done, including yard work, please come by the church office and pick up an application. Please let your friends, family and neighbors know that these youth and adults will be here. They want to help and be of service. Call the church office if you have any questions at 225-261-4646.
