Several weeks ago, I ate lunch with some great people – the pastors of Central.  For years, we have been getting together monthly to hang out, to eat, and to plan activities.  Every year, we plan the Central observance of the National Day of Prayer (May) and the Central Thanksgiving Community Worship Service (November).  Recently five Central churches came together to meet the financial needs of a family in the Central School System.
As I looked around the lunch table that day, I took note of the different denominations that were represented – Catholic, Methodist, Charismatic, Assembly of God, Baptist, Non-denominational, Presbyterian. One of the men at the lunch pastors a Spanish speaking church.  One of the people there was a woman.  We have several female pastors in Central.  There were older pastors, middle aged pastors, and young pastors at the table!
Here’s the point – regardless of our denominational leanings, we are friends!  Regardless of our theological bent, we love one another!  Black, brown, or white; male or female; old or young; we can work together for the glory of God!  Regardless of our native languages, we can communicate the truth of the gospel in a way that will relate to people who do not know God!
What binds us together?  Jesus Christ – crucified, buried, and risen from the grave!  Our love for Jesus Christ and our love for one another make the church a formidable force in the world today!  I love it! “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples; if you love one another!” John 13
