In Memoriam: Charles Leroy “Red” Forest

Forest Obit PhotoB    Charles L. Forest, 82, was a resident of Denham Springs, formerly of Central.  “Red” was a graduate of Central High School.  He served in the U.S. Air Force.  He was a mechanic.  He was an avid sportsman and rancher.  He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
    He is survived by one son, Chester, two daughters, Valerie (David) Carrier and Reba (Elvis) Davis, ten grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by two brothers, Elbert (Sonny) and George T. Forest Jr. (Sammy), and four sisters, Wilma Archer, Diana Forest, Louise Kendrick, and Ethel Spiers.
    Red was preceded in death by his son Charles (Sammy) Forest, his parents George J. Forest Sr. and Viola Duke Forest Fletcher, sister Mae Bergeron, and former wife Essie Forest Quin.
    Visitation was held on January 23, 2015 at Seale Funeral Home in Central, followed by the funeral service led by Rev. Marie Williams from Blackwater United Methodist Church.
    He was buried at Louisiana National Cemetery with full military honors.
