Corrections on Junior Shelton Bankruptcy Article

By  |

Last week Central Speaks reported on page three that the date mayoral candidate Junior Shelton’s filed for bankruptcy was April 12, 2010.  The actual date was May 12, 2010.  We regret the error.
In addition, it was reported that Mr. Shelton failed to disclose his 2010 campaign account to the bankruptcy court, specifically in section 11 of the Statement of Financial Affairs requiring the disclosure of all “closed financial accounts”.  The information that Mr. Shelton’s 2010 campaign account was closed came directly from Mr. Shelton’s 2010 Louisiana Ethics Administration final Campaign Finance Report which included a final disbursement of $194.40 to Mothers Against Drunk Driving for the stated purpose of “Donation to close out bank account for campaign funds.”
However, the Shelton campaign has now represented to Central Speaks that the untitled Hancock Bank account ending in 3300 disclosed as an “open” account with a zero balance was his 2010 campaign account.  We certainly accept Mr. Shelton’s explanation that the account was actually still open and was properly reported to the Bankruptcy Court.  We hope this clears this matter up for all readers.
