Introducing “Sports Central”

Editorial by Beth Fussell
Going forward, Central Speaks will begin featuring a new part of the sports section called “Sports Central.”  Sports Central will highlight sports-related achievements by anyone in the community, from children to adults.  Did you get a hole-in-one golfing last week?  Tell us who, where, and when to be featured in Sports Central.  Did your child hit a home run in his baseball game?  Tell us about it so we can include it.  Did your grandchild shoot his or her first deer, or did you catch a monstrous fish?  Let us know and we will print it for you.
We are specifically looking for short writeups including a name, date, place, and the details of the achievement.  We will also print a small photo of the person who accomplished it if you would like to submit a photo.  We will no longer include pictures of wild game, but will instead focus on the child (or adult) who bagged their first or notable deer, fish, hog, etc.  This is in an effort to save a bit of space so that we can start showcasing a wider variety of achievements.
Send your Sports Central writeup and photo (optional) to [email protected] for publishing free of charge.  Our deadline is Tuesdays at noon for each Thursday’s paper, but we reserve the right to print it the following week depending on available space.
