In Memoriam: Lorraine Lamy Amedee

Lorraine Lamy Amedee passed away at 11:24 AM Friday, January 3, 2014 at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge at the age of 78. She was born September 12, 1935 in Baton Rouge and was a resident of Central.

Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 9:30 AM until the Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM conducted by Father Mike Moroney.

Survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronald F. Amedee, Sr.; daughters, Laurie Amedee Martin and husband Glendon and Leslie Amedee Landry and husband Rodney; sons, Ronald F. Amedee, Jr. and wife Teri and Randall P. Amedee; sister, Caroline Lamy; brothers, Michael Lamy and wife Helen and Stephen Lamy and wife Susan; 10 grandchildren, Jill, Travis, Elliott, Emilye, Hunter, Christian, Archer, Luke, Brock and Blake; 1 great-grandchild, Jackson; sisters-in-law, Jimmy Lamy and Janet LeJeune; former daughter-in-law, Melva Amedee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Edward T. Lamy, Sr. and Vera A. Lamy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard T. and Edith M. Amedee; brothers, Edward T. Lamy, Jr. and George R. Lamy; sister, Vera A. Huffman; brother-in-law, Gaylord Huffman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jode and Gloria A. Cox.

She was a member of St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church in Greenwell Springs where she was a volunteer with the Prayer Line at the church. She was a former Eucharistic Minister at St. Isidore Catholic Church. She was an avid garderner and raised beautiful flowers. She gave many cuttings to friends and family and told them to talk and pray for them to make them grow. She never met a stranger and welcomed people into her home. She was a "Cool" Memaw.She was also a friend of Bill Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation.
