Sheriff’s Office on the Job

Home Invasion – A home invasion and a shoplifting in the Central area have both ended in arrests thanks to the effective efforts of our EBR Sheriff’s Office.  An elderly woman living alone in Pride opened her door on December 21st for a person claiming he was making a delivery.  He forced his way into the house, reportedly wielding a knife, knocking her to the floor.  He then made the woman crawl on her hands and knees to various rooms in the house where he took money from inside Christmas cards, searched for other valuables, and stole prescription medicines.  Scared but unhurt, the woman called for help after the home invader left.
On February 20th, based on a match of DNA taken from the victim’s home, Sherriff’s Office Detectives identified, questioned and arrested Paul Keller of Pride for the crime.  He was booked into Parish Prison for Armed Robbery, Aggravated Burglary and Simple Battery.

Shoplifting – In a separate incident, on February 27th three residents of West Baton Rouge Parish were arrested for shoplifting a security system from the Central Walmart.  Walmart security provided a description of the persons and their vehicle and Sheriff’s vehicles immediately converged on the area from all directions.  Captain Ricky Klug spotted the vehicle and pursued, resulting in a traffic stop on Sullivan Road.  The three suspects, Tyler Martinez of Brusley, Margaret Ganel of Plaquemine, and Ashley Loubiere of Port Allen, were booked into Parish Prison.
