Prosecution of Ordinance Violations Halted

The City of Central can not prosecute any more violations of City Ordinances until the City Council restores funding to that line item in the budget.  In June, Council Members Messina, Washington and LoBue stripped the legal fees budget down to a two month supply, and now, three months later, that money has been exhausted, as expected. At Tuesday's Council meeting, Council Member DeJohn attempted to begin the process of restoring funding to the budget so that prosecution of violations could resume.  Council Member Washington blocked DeJohn's effort by refusing to allow the item to be added to the agenda.  Asked for the reasoning behind the action, Washington responded, " “Because I have a reason, and I’m not going to discuss it now.  You’ll find out.”
