After a 2-15 start, things weren’t looking too good for the Wildcat baseball team, but they have turned their season around over the past week. “Our team has done a great job of not losing sight of their goals. Even though we went through a rough patch, we stayed positive and worked our way through it,” said Coach Forbes.
Central finished off the Atchafalaya Challenge with a commanding 12-2 victory over Carencro. The Wildcats were led at the plate by Brett Courville and Micah Jones who each had 2 hits and 1 RBI. Travis Stevens got the win on the mound pitching six solid innings while only giving up 2 runs. On Tuesday, the Wildcats beat Episcopal behind a complete game shutout by Mason Gautreaux.  Brett Courville drove in one run on an RBI double, and Cory Davis scored on a wild pitch to give the Wildcats their 2-0 win.
After the Parkview game got rained out on Thursday, Central took on the Redemptorist Wolves. The Wildcats scored 16 runs, led by 2 hit performances by Cory Davis and Mason Gautreaux (3 RBI’s). Sophomore Preston Fondren pitched four scoreless innings, and John Fralick pitched the fifth to give the Wildcats a 16-0 victory and a 3-0 week. After the game, Coach Forbes said, “Our pitching and defense have really stepped up during this current winning streak. This is the right time to start playing well. When district starts, it’s almost like we start a new season.” The Wildcats play 3 home games this week, starting with Central Catholic on Tuesday, Parkview on Thursday, and Jesuit on Saturday.
