School Board Candidate Bio: Henry Goudeau

By  |

I am privileged to be a 34 year resident of Central.  I have been married to Kathryn Summers for 23 years.  We have three beautiful children: Austin, a 2008 CHS graduate; Barrett, a 2010 CHS graduate; and Madyson, a student at Central Middle.  I am a 24 year employee of Baton Rouge Water Company and I hold Class 4 licenses in Water Production, Treatment and Distribution.  Our children provided me the opportunity to be involved in our school system and I took advantage by participating in parent organizations, fundraisers and committees.

I am the volunteer in charge of CHS stadium maintenance and field painting. I chaired a committee researching academic excellence for athletes by helping with a plan to raise the expectations of our student athletes and bringing in an academic coach. I am a seven year member and the current Vice President of the Central Backers.  I have coached football in CYFLA and SLYFA, and baseball in CAYL. I have umpired youth baseball for 15 years and have served as head umpire.

I feel it is important, as the Central Community School System grows, to address challenges and explore opportunities in all areas of vocational, technical, academic and special education to ensure our students can meet the challenges of tomorrow.  I will listen, address concerns, and get answers to questions for my constituents. I will be fair and dedicated and Central will always be first in my heart.  I will work toward the goals that all parents want for their children. Decisions that our School Board makes will affect my family, my children, my friends’ children and my children's friends every day. This is why it is important to me to ensure that our children are equipped to successfully meet the challenges they will encounter throughout their lives.
