Shooting at Hooper & Sullivan Leaves One Dead

At about 8 PM this evening, Tuesday, May 4th, a shooting occurred in an eastbound lane of Hooper Road at the Sullivan Road intersection.  Those on the scene indicate that a small white pickup truck pulled up behind a low-rider black pickup truck at the traffic light.  The driver of the white truck approached the black truck yelling at the driver of the black truck.  The driver of the black truck is said to have responded by shooting the driver of the white truck.  There were about a dozen police and fire units on the scene and the area was taped off.  As always, if anyone has information about the incident that would be helpful to law enforcement you are encouraged to call the Sheriff's office.

EBRSO Arrests Man For Shooting His Cousin
Deputies arrested Kevin Carlock, 34, of 25093 Greenwell Springs Rd. for Second Degree Murder in the shooting death of Kerry Carlock, 34, 12935 N. Oak Tree that occurred yesterday evening at the intersection of Hooper and Sullivan.
According to reports, the two men, allegedly cousins, had an ongoing domestic dispute. Witnesses said the victim was pursuing the accused, both in vehicles, while traveling down Hooper Road. Witnesses said the victim approached the accused's vehicle yelling while the two were stopped at the red light at Hooper and Sullivan. Before the victim reached the accused's vehicle, the traffic light changed to green, but the accused did not proceed through the light. According to witnesses, as the victim reached the vehicle, the accused leaned out of the driver's side window and shot the victim. No weapon was found on or near the victim.
An off-duty BRPD officer detained the accused until EBRSO arrived on scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. The accused was booked into Parish Prison.

EBRSO Working Shooting In Central
East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting at Hooper and Sullivan at approximately 8:05 p.m. this evening that left one man dead. A BRPD officer on his way home stopped and detained the shooter until EBRSO made it on scene.
The injured man was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead as a result of an apparent gunshot wound.
According to reports, the deceased was chasing a relative, the shooter, down Hooper Road, both in vehicles, when the two stopped at a redlight at Hooper and Sullivan. There was an altercation and one man shot the other.
This is an ongoing investigation. The shooter is in custody at this time.
