Cookin’ – A Taste of Central’s Generosity

By  |

I’m a firm believer that all things can be caused to do some good, even when we can’t see it at the time.  Cooking in Central got postponed in May due to heavy rains, and that seemed to be a bad thing.  But now with Moore, Oklahoma being hit with one of the most fierce tornados on record, Central stands poised to share our good fortune with our neighbors in Oklahoma.
This year’s Cooking in Central has been nicknamed “Cookin’ for Moore, OK”, and Cooking has now designated half of the uncommitted proceeds of the event to be sent to Moore, Oklahoma.  Baton Rouge Metro Airport is even flying in two representatives from Moore, OK to attend “Cookin’ for Moore, OK”.  With a donation possibly exceeding $50,000, made possible by a simple rain delay, perhaps something good has come out of what we all thought was unfortunate rain last month.
This year, perhaps even more than others, consider coming out to Cookin’ Friday and Saturday of next week, June 7 & 8.  Invite some friends to Friday evening’s crawfish boil, buy an extra plate of barbecue Saturday, or bid a little more on a silent auction item, knowing that all of this will help our Oklahoma neighbors.  This, my generous Central friends, is Good News for a Great City.
