The Perfect Weekend in Central

By  |

I am having a hard time envisioning a better weekend to be a citizen of the City of Central, or even to be a visitor to Central.
Where can you watch LSU Baseball in the Super Regional Friday night on big screen TV’s with a thousand of your closest friends?  Cooking in Central at 6 PM.
Where is likely the biggest Crawfish Boil in Louisiana Friday night?  Cooking in Central starting at 5PM.
Where can you feast on arguably the best Barbecue in all the south?  Cooking in Central starting at 10AM Saturday.
Where can you go this weekend to personally make a difference in the lives of Tornado victims in Moore, Oklahoma?  Cooking in Central Friday and Saturday where 100% of the food sold this weekend will benefit the Moore School System.
If I can deviate from the shameless promotion of this great event, I would like to share a personal thought.  There are wealthier communities than Central all over the country.  There are more historically significant places not 30 miles from Central.  There are countless places all over this country with better weather and more scenic views than are found in Central.  However, as I consider the motivation and effort that thousands of people put into Cooking in Central every year, I can think of no more generous place on the face of the earth.  Come out this weekend and be a part of the generosity of Central, the greatest place on earth to live and raise a family.
