St. Alphonsus Students Raise Money for St. Jude

Students at St. Alphonsus Catholic School recently participated in the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Math-A-Thon program and raised $7134.50.

Math-A-Thon allows students to build and practice math skills while they raise funds for children battling cancer at St. Jude.  The program works in the following way:  Participating students solve math problems in a printed or online Funbook.  Students ask family and friends for donations in support of their participation in the Math-A-Thon.  All donations are sent to St. Jude, where no child is ever turned away because of the family’s inability to pay.

Now in its 30^th year, Math-A-Thon is one of America’s largest education-based fundraisers.  More than 10,000 schools across the country participate in the program.  Math-A-Thon is also one of the most successful fundraising campaigns for St. Jude, having raised nearly $400 million since its inception.

“We are very proud of our students for working so hard to raise money for St. Jude through Math-A-Thon,” said Alice Frank, coordinator of the event.  “Our school, students and community have helped St. Jude in its work to find cures and save children.”  Since 1988 St. Alphonsus Catholic School has raised over $253,000.00 to help the patients at St. Jude.
