In Memoriam: Peebles “Pete” Grissom
A resident of Central, Pete passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 31, 2015. He was 88, a native of Soso, MS, and former owner/operator of Grissom's Hauling. Visitation was at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Monday, August 3, from 5-8 p.m., and on Tuesday, August 4, from 9 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 10 a.m., conducted by Father Brad Doyle. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Serving as pallbearers are Kyle Dias, Greg Gibson, Shane Firmin, Todd Firmin, Tyler Alford, and Peyton Alford. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Goar, Gaston Gerald, and Michael Firmin.
Pete is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Grissom; two daughters, Leila Kinabrew (Donnie), and Tina Dias (Don); two step-daughters, Donna Firmin (Buddy Lee), and Chandra Alford (Greg); four grandchildren, Leigh Ann Gibson (Greg), Tiffany Toler, Ashley Dias, and Kyle Dias; five step-grandchildren, Shane Firmin, Todd Firmin, Tyler Alford, Peyton Alford, and Taylor Alford; and three great-grandchildren, Karleigh McKlemurry, Peyton Toler, and Lylah Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Leila C. Moore Grissom.
Pete worked with the Central Food Bank for over 28 years, and was featured on Channel 9's Hand It On segment. He was a member of the Central Masonic Lodge, and attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He loved cooking, entertaining and piddling around outside, and especially enjoyed having crawfish boils and fish fries.
