“On the Radar” in Central

By  |

CENTRAL FIRST BLUE bHow is anyone really supposed to know what is going on in Central?  If you don’t follow each website, attend every meeting, it is easy to miss out on the next Movie in the Park (October 30th) or the next important Council Decision.  So here are some things “On the Radar” this month in Central.
Council Districts – The first meeting was held earlier this week to consider a move to Council elections by District in 2018.  The next meeting is October 29th at 6PM in City Hall.  The public is invited to attend and speak  (Personally, I say put it to a vote of the citizens).
FEMA Floodplain Study funding – The City Council will consider an additional $4,000 to complete the Beaver Bayou Watershed flood study likely to save Central residents up to several million dollars each year in flood insurance premiums (I can’t imagine not funding this, and I also don’t understand why the Council has not funded a similar study proposed for the Comite River side of Central).
Pumpkin Patch – Thousands of Pumpkins have arrived at Blackwater United Methodist Church this week so make this a family outing, go far a hay ride, hear stories, play games and decorate your own pumpkin.  Pumpkin Patch supports Blackwater’s missions outreach (Nice to have another family friendly Central event).
Football – Come out Friday night and see if the Wildcats can take the first step to a District title by beating rival Denham Springs.  Or, come support the Rebels with a new head coach and an improving record (Friday night football is Central’s biggest social event.  Come out and spend an evening with a couple thousand of your friends and neighbors).
Elections are November 4th (You might have noticed a few signs).
