The Central Community Alliance will host a public forum this Tuesday evening, September 17th, at 7PM.  The meeting will be held in the DEMCO meeting room at 16262 Wax Road.  Guest speakers will be Central Councilman Aaron Moak and Certified Flood Plain Manager Kathi Cowen.  Potentially, the recent Beaver Bayou Flood Risk Analysis study funded by the City shows that over 1,000 Homeowners in Central could be removed from flood zones A and AE and placed in Zone X where they would not be required to carry flood insurance. With flood insurance premiums rising at alarming rates, the savings to Central Homeowners would be a welcome relief.  Maps of the study area will be available.  The plan must now be submitted to FEMA for approval and implementation.  Come see if you are in the study area and get your questions answered.
There will also be a MOHSEP Update called “It’s Hurricane Season – Prepare” by Kyle Jones, CEM, LEM Chief of Operations. The East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness (MOHSEP) is the coordinator of Public Safety for the parish during an incident that affects the people of the parish. Kyle will bring us up to date with current preparations and information.  All Central citizens are welcome.
