Greenwell Springs Hospital Closes

The State has closed the Greenwell Springs Hospital and this week transferred the patients to the State's Jackson, LA facility. The hospital opened in 1928 as a tuberculosis hospital and more recently has been used as a mental health hospital. Budget cutbacks have prompted this and other cost-saving measures across the state. There are currently no plans for alternative uses of the facility on Greenwell Springs Road here in Central.
