The Central Swim Team saved their best for the last, as two more swimmers qualified for the State Meet at last Saturday’s City Meet.
Sean Murphy qualified for state in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:14.22. Sean Murphy also scored a point for the Wildcats by virtue of his 16th place time of 6:23.40 in the 500 yard freestyle. Aaron Raggio was the other Wildcat to qualify for state on Saturday with a time of 26.99 in the 50 yard freestyle.
The Wildcats had four swimmers make it to the individual finals on Sunday. Emerald Roney, Mary Catherine Hodges, Matthew Arnold, and Daniel Parker qualified with top 16 times. On Sunday, Mary finished 12th in the 100 yard breastroke with a personal best time of 1:22:32. Mary was also acknowledged at the meet for earning a spot on the All-Academic Team. Emerald Roney finished 16th in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:15.48. Daniel Parker swam a personal best time of 1:14:18 in the 100 yard breastroke to finish 12th. Matthew Arnold finished in the top 8 of two events. In the 500 yard freestyle, Matthew placed 6th with a personal best time of 5:33:21. In the 100 yard backstroke, Matthew finished 7th with a time of 1:04:34.
The best finish for the Wildcats in a relay was from the boys 200 freestyle relay. Matthew Arnold, Aaron Raggio, Daniel Parker, and Kade McAdams swam the finals in 1:45:68, their fastest time of the season to finish 7th.
Overall, the boys team finished with 75 points which was good enough for 10th in the city, just ahead of Zachary. Other Wildcats that competed at the City Meet were Beka Lizarraga, Jessica Hooper, Tara Termini, Hollie Michelli, Tanner Stockton, Shane Hernandez, and Shelby Eisworth. The Wildcats have just the State Meet left this season in Sulphur on November 16th and 17th .
