Clerk of Court Welborn Announces Qualifying for Fall Elections

Clerk of Court Doug Welborn has announced qualifying dates and locations for the upcoming fall elections.  The offices for which qualifying will be held by the Clerk of Court’s Office are:
-City of Central Mayor, Chief of Police, Council Members, School Board Members 
-Zachary Mayor, Chief of Police, Council Members, School Board Members and City Court Judge.
-School Board Members from East Baton Rouge Parish and City of Baker
-Baton Rouge City Court Judge, Divisions A, B, C, D and E
-Baton Rouge City Constable  
Qualifying will be held Wednesday, July 18th through Friday, July 20th from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Clerk of Court’s Downtown office at 222 St. Louis Street, Room 179 and at their Airline office at 9050 Airline Highway, Suite 100. 
Additionally, Clerk of Court staff will be available to qualify candidates at the Central City Hall, 13421 Hooper Road, Suite 9 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 18th.  To further accommodate candidates in the northern part of the parish, qualifying will also be held on Thursday, July 19th from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Zachary City Hall at 4510 Main Street in Zachary.
“Candidates from the northern cities in our parish have always appreciated the convenience of local qualifying and we are pleased to continue to offer this service for their elections,” Welborn said.  “Though the majority of our visitors on those days qualify for one of their local races, qualifying will be available for all of the offices we are conducting during this election cycle.”
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, November 6 with the general election to follow on Saturday, December 8.  Qualifying for state-level races on the fall ballot will be conducted by the Secretary of State’s Office.
