Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald House

By  |
Last year Louisiana Chapter #15 of the National United Methodist Campers and Blackwater United Methodist Church collected 150 lbs of Beverage Tabs for Ronald McDonald House.  National United Methodist Campers collected 650 lbs for rally year 2017.  We at Blackwater helped chapter #15 win first place in tabs collected.
POP TAB COLLECTION PROGRAM
Louisiana Chapter #15 of the National United Methodist campers and Blackwater United Methodist Church collects beverage tabs to support families with children in the hospital that stay at RMHC or visit the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
WHY BEVERAGE TABS?
Unlike the urban legend states, pop tabs DO NOT support medical treatment of any kind including chemotherapy or dialysis.  Pop Tabs DO support the operations of Ronald McDonald Houses across the country.  This popular fundraiser benefits seriously ill children by helping provide a place for them and their families to stay while they are out of town for medical treatment
HOW DO BEVERAGE TABS HELP?
The tab of an aluminum can is pure aluminum unlike the rest of the can, which contains paint and other residue.  Recycling the tabs generates proceeds to donate to a local Ronald McDonald House. The tabs do not pay for treatment or night stays – only house operations.
NEXT STEPS
Here’s how you can get involved:
Collect pop tabs in zip-lock bags, cardboard boxes, coffee cans or plastic trash bags. Please do not use plastic soda bottles or milk jugs because they’re hard to empty!
Bring to Blackwater UMC 10000 Blackwater Road, City of Central, LA 70714
