Submitted by Coach Godley
LHSAA Girls Bi-Regionals, Tuesday (3-28-17)
Round 3 – The Lady Wildcats struggled with two of their lowest games in a while in Games 1 (867) and 2 (893) against Cabrini (10-4). Central would grind it out before clicking in Game 3 with a solid 989 and put the final touches on a victory. Central defeated Cabrini 22-5 and 2749-2365. Senior Brianna McCurley led the team with a 532 series (246), followed by Sophomore Alanna Coward's 504 (178,175) and Sophomore Destini Geautreaux’s personal high series of 502 (178).
Round 4 – Central (16-0) would continue the solid bowling and undefeated season into their next match up against East Ascension (13-2). Central cracked 900+ in each game with scores of 989, 930 and 1033. The Lady Wildcats knocked off the Spartans by a final score of 25-2 and 2952-2517. The 1033 and 2952 were the second highest game and series rolled by the Wildcats this season. The victory is Central's 32nd straight victory dating back to the 2015 LHSAA Championship Match against St Scholastica. McCurley once again led the team with a 618 (208,242) followed by Senior Brittnee Robinson's 540 (198,198) and Coward's 528 (176,202). Senior Sariah Short rolled a 171 and Senior Dante Garcia added a 169.
The girls will move on to the Final 4 Friday (4-7-17) at the Raising Canes River Center with Round 5 starting around 11am against a very strong Morgan City. Central defeated Morgan City last year in the State Finals and on paper the Fighting Tigers look even more loaded this season. The Finals are set to begin approximately at 1pm. Great job ladies, the quest for a back to back championship run is alive and well!
