Central’s Cookin’ All Day Saturday

By  |

Cooking in Central kicks off this Saturday, April 1, with the Apron Run at 8:00 a.m. at Amazing Place.  The Cooking in Central main event begins at 10 a.m., bringing twelve solid hours of food, fun, charity, and entertainment.  This year’s event will benefit all Central schools, public and private, as well as a special effort to replace personal teaching supplies lost in Central’s flooded schools.
Cooking, Central’s Annual Festival, will be held at the newly renovated property located at 10305 Blackwater Road. Central’s talented cooks are preparing award-winning food, available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for $5 per plate. The city’s largest crawfish boil will be Saturday evening this year from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at $15 per plate.
The day will be filled with live local entertainment, winding up with evening performances by Sarah Collins followed by Carbon Copy Band. BREC is supplying playground equipment for the kids at no charge, and the greased pig contest is back by popular demand.
One more special need is being met at Cooking this year. Infant Easton Roy is in need of blood transfusions due to pulmonary hypertension, so The Blood Center will have their mobile unit on hand to collect donations.
So pack up the kids and come out for Central’s biggest charity event of the year. Come enjoy a full day of great food and great entertainment with your Central neighbors and friends.
