Streets and Traffic Update by David Barrow
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development opened bids on February 8 for the first phase of the Sullivan Rd widening from Wax Rd to Hooper Rd.  This phase involves the clearing and grubbing of the right-of-way as well as the installation of public sewer lines along the corridor.  There were two bidders on the project, and the low bid was submitted by Boone Services LLC in the amount of $3,168,834.61.  The estimated cost was $3,806,142.00.   As part of this phase, utilities along the roadway will have to be relocated as well.   Expect to see work start by early summer and last approximately one year.
The bids for the actual road widening to 4-lanes with a center median will be taken at a later date once this phase is nearing completion.  Expect for that to occur sometime in 2018.
