City of Central Food Bank News

Happy Fall Everyone!  Reminder the City of Central Food Bank is back open Tuesdays & Thursdays.  However, our hours are still limited.  We are open 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.  Please understand many of our volunteers have flooded as well as so many of our community. We aim to return to longer hours as soon as possible.

Mark your calendar for upcoming food drives around Central.
Remember all donations collected stay in Central to assist Central families in need.

Fourth Annual Central Feeding Central Food Drive

Saturday, November 19th                     9:00 am until 3:00 pm               Central Winn Dixie 10974 Joor Road

With the holidays fast approaching we need items such as: Caned yams, Crushed pineapple, Brown sugar, Honey, Marshmallows (small), Stuffing Mix, Chicken Broth, Fried onions, Soy sauce, Pecans/Walnuts, Jiffy Corn Bread mix, Black Pepper and jars of Mayo.  The food bank can now accept perishable items as well.

              We would like to THANK some very special people for their donations to the food bank.  : Dr. Record, his staff and the Smiles For Life Foundation for their donation of $1,245.00, The Rubber House of Baton Rouge, for their donation of $300.00, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church for their donation of $1,000.00, Central Intermediate School, Patti Gerald, Patty Morgan and Betty Neyland of Karen and her family from Massachusetts for their donations of food.  Not to mention the donations from our community that is left at Winn Dixie and Zoar Baptist Church.  We were also privileged to receive donations of just about everything you could think of from Scott Rushing with Sanderson Farms and Jay & Lisa Payne of Central Plumbing Company. 

If you are in need of assistance, you may contact us with your questions at 225-261-8098 or come by the food bank Tuesdays or Thursdays.  Our wonderful volunteers will be happy to assist you.
