Flood 2016

Update from City Hall

By  |

Reached for comment on flood recovery efforts, Mayor Shelton gave the following update:
“In today’s meeting with FEMA we were told that basically homes can be built back to current levels in our ordinances. What we are trying to get clarification on is about those houses that were built before current elevations were adopted.
There is a DRC operated by FEMA located now in the City Hall parking lot staffed by FEMA and citizens can come by and file claims, check on claims and get information. In addition there is info on SBA loans and legal help. Other nonprofit partners are there to help also.
The length of time for travel trailers and all abatements for regulations thus far will last for at least a year. At that time, we will reevaluate the regulations.”
