Sen. Mack “Bodi” White officially entered the race for Mayor-President of East Baton Rouge Parish. His wife, Robin, accompanied him as he qualified downtown at the Clerk of Court’s office this morning.
When asked why he is the candidate who can bring change to East Baton Rouge Parish, Sen. White said, “My whole life I have gotten up everyday and gone to work. I have never accepted defeat. I will get up everyday and push to make this city and parish better.”
He added, “I know the legislators and I know the governor. I have always been able to work across the lines. I have always been able to put delegations together. I have always been able to put plans together. I have always been able to get funding for education, infrastructure and crime.”
While improving education, easing traffic congestion, and reducing crime are key issues, Sen. White is also focused on poverty in East Baton Rouge Parish.
“Something you haven’t heard me talk about, but I’ve been working on is poverty in this parish, particularly in the city of Baton Rouge. It’s something that has to be addressed. We have to offer hope and a way out for families who live in poverty.”
