LHSAA BOWLING STATE PLAYOFFS:  2015 STATE RUNNER-UPS BEGIN QUESTS FOR A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

By Coach Godley

GIRLS REGIONALS – ROUNDS 1 & 2: CENTRAL BEATS DENHAM SPRINGS FOR A 3RD TIME THIS SEASON

The ladies (12-0) have become one of the best teams in not only the Baton Rouge area, but in the state of Louisiana over the last 3 years, including a State Runner-Up last year.  They started their march to a State Championship by beating Denham Springs for a third time this season.  After receiving a BYE in Round 1, on Monday (3-21-16) at All Star Lanes the Wildcats made short work of the Yellow Jackets (5-6) to advance to their 3rd straight Bi-Regionals.

Earlier in the season the Wildcats defeated the Yellow Jackets 26.5-.5 and 25-2, and this time was more of the same with a 26-1 (2898-2018) victory.  The Wildcats quickly wrapped up Round 2 and extended their winning streak over the former state powerhouse to 9 matches.  Only needing 14 points to win a match, Central wrapped up the match after 2 games by sweeping Games 1 & 2 8-0 (966-631 and 1052-678).  The ladies finished the match by winning Game 3 7-1 (880-709).  Freshman Jessie Smith led all scorers with a 226 game and 572 series, followed by Freshman Alanna Coward’s with a 505 (183) and Senior/Captain Sarah LeDuff’s 482 (178).  Juniors Savannah Lee added a 178 and Brianna McCurley rolled a 176.

BOYS REGIONALS – ROUNDS 1 & 2: CENTRAL BEATS ST MICHAEL’S

CHS Boys (10-2) received a BYE in Round 1 and bowled St Michael’s (9-3) in Round 2.  As the Boys have done so many times over the past 4 years (with a record of 44-4), Central once again flexed their muscles in another route.

On Monday (3-21-16) at All Star Lanes, the Boys won all three games fairly easily winning Game 1 7-1 (1230-962), Game 2 6-2 (1143-892) and Game 3 6-2 (1051-939).  Overall, the Wildcats won by a final score of 22-5 (3424-2793) with Junior Dylan Ringo leading the way with a great 666 series (245, 237).  Junior Parker Aucoin and Senior/Captain Johnathan Ryder both rolled a 613 series with Aucoin bowling a 228, 212 and Ryder rolling a 216, 203.  Junior Bryce Delaune added a 598 (210, 220) and Freshman Michael Williston added a 184.  With Monday’s victory, Central will be making their 5th straight Bi-Regionals appearance.
