Ochsner Health System Announces Louisiana Marathon Sponsorship

    Ochsner Health System recently announced its sponsorship of the Louisiana Marathon, a running festival in Baton Rouge celebrating the passion for the sport combined with the Louisiana culture.
    The Louisiana Marathon course is a fast, flat, festive path that takes runners from downtown Baton Rouge, along the river, through the University Lakes, the Louisiana State University campus and through historic rivertown neighborhoods. Friends, family and spectators line up along the 26.2-mile course to cheer on racers.
    "This partnership highlights our commitment to the health and fitness of athletes of all ages, from across the Gulf South," said David Gaines, CEO of System Retail Services & System Vice President of Public Affairs, Ochsner Health System. "We congratulate all the athletes who will participate and stand by willing to assist as the official healthcare provider of the Louisiana Marathon.”
    Gaines is one of many Ochsner employees who will be participating in the Louisiana Marathon. Ochsner physicians will be on hand to provide medical treatment for participants if needed.
    Now in its fifth year, organizers expect as many as 10,000 people could participate. The 2014 Louisiana Marathon had more than 8,200 walkers and runners. Options include a full, half, or quarter marathon; a 5k; and a kids’ marathon.
