On Tuesday night, December 1, 2015, Central played its home opener vs Lee High of Baton Rouge.  The evening started off with the junior varsity game in which Central won 33-29.  Central was led by Landon Thames and Grayson Cox, scoring 9 and 8 points respectively.  This was the first junior varsity game of the year.
The varsity game tipped off at 7:00 p.m. and was a close one the entire way.  Central led after the first quarter 13-9 after four steals in the opening period.  At halftime, Lee held a 27-24 advantage.  In the second quarter Austin Stewart went 4-4 from the free throw line.  After three quarters the game was tied at 34. A key play in the game occurred in the fourth quarter when sophomore Quint Guerin stole a pass, drove the length of the floor and made a layup while getting fouled.  He then made the free throw, and this gave Central the lead.  Lee took a 41-40 lead with just over a minute to go. On the following possession, junior Carlos Wilkerson, came up with a huge offensive rebound and put back to give Central the lead for good. He scored a career high 13 points and was a perfect 6 for 6 from the field. Other leaders for Central were sophomore Hunter Arnold, who grabbed 7 rebounds and senior Austin Stewart, who led the team with 15 points.
Congratulations to the Central team and coaching staff for their first home victory of the season.  Central will take on St. Michael at Brusly High on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 4 p.m.
