Wildcats End Season With a Trip to the Playoffs

By  |

IMG_9654bCentral ended its season Friday night with a 40-13 loss on the road to the top ranked team in the state, West Monroe.  The Wildcats ended the regular season last Friday at 5-5, earning the #32 seed in the state playoffs and the trip to West Monroe.  Central competes in 5A District 4 which sent 5 of its six teams to the playoffs.

The team travelled to West Monroe in hopes of a repeat of 2013 when the Wildcats shut out the Rebels 14-0 in a big upset.  In this 2015 rematch, Central came out strong, trailing by six with less than three minutes remaining in the first half and possession of the football.  West Monroe struck quickly in those remaining three minutes with two big offensive plays for scores, then continued that assault early in the third quarter.

On Saturday, reflecting on the season, head coach Sid Edwards shared that this team exceeded the preseason predictions on the field, and that as a group, in all of the ways that really matter, they are among the finest football teams he has ever coached.  Sid Edwards has twice coached teams to Louisiana State Championships.
