In Memoriam: Dolores “Dee” Smith

Dolores "Dee" Smith passed away at her home in Central, Louisiana, at the age of 62 on Thursday, September, 17, 2015, after a courageous battle against cancer. Ms. Dee was a restaurant manager for Miller Properties/Waffle House for 23 years with her most recent post being in Zachary, Louisiana. Ms. Dee was a friend of Bill for more than 23 years and lived her life One Day at a Time always mindful of the Serenity Prayer. Ms. Dee was a graduate of Mt. Hermon / Franklinton High School and an avid bowler. Ms. Dee is survived in death by her son-in-law and daughter, Phil Godley and Tuleigha Rawls and granddaughter Kay Lyn, and her son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Michelle Rawls and grandson and granddaughter, Chuck and Hanna. She is also survived in death  by her sisters, Emelda Jean McElveen, Sharon Pierce, Pearl Pike, Celia Beth Painter, and Nettie Mae Smith, and her brothers, Chance Smith, Richard Smith, and Fred Smith. Ms. Dee is further survived by her adopted extended family, Will and Jackie Coward, Amy, Alanna,and Andrew Coward, Christopher White, and Nathan and Ryan Verrett. Ms. Dee is preceded in death by her parents, Bruce Smith and Joyce Smith, her brother, Charles Bruce "Brother" Smith, and her nephew, Robbie McElveen. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Central, 9995 Hooper Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday, September 20, 2015, from 5-8pm, and at Mt. Pisguh Baptist Church, 25393 Mt. Pisguh Road, Mt. Hermon, Louisiana, Monday, September 21, 2015, from 11am until services begin at 1pm. Burial services will be held at Simmons Cemetary, Hwy 438, Mt.
