Streets and Traffic Update

Good morning Central.  Here are a couple of traffic updates for you:
    1) The McCullough Road bridge has been repaired and should be opened some time today.
    2) Crews worked over the weekend and at night on the new roundabout at Joor and Gurney in hopes that it should be open some time today.  Crews need to finish the concrete curbing.  Everyone realizes that school has started, and they are working their best to speed things up.  They are trying to complete the actual roadwork so that the roundabout can be opened while still performing off-road work on the shoulders, etc.  So hopefully, within the next ten days, the only road work inconvenience in Central will be at Sullivan and Wax.
    3) Sullivan at Wax: Crews poured more concrete at the Wal Mart driveway and on Sullivan between Wal Mart and Huntley Place last week.  They will soon divert traffic onto the new concrete lanes northbound while they remove the existing middle lane you are currently driving upon between Wal Mart and Wax and reconstruct that section, as well as complete the north leg of the intersection.  They must finish installing the new traffic signals and mast arms before this can take place.  They are also working on constructing the new outside eastbound lane on Wax alongside Wal Mart.  The final phase of the project will be to install medians along Wax Road.  Work should be complete by the end of the year.  Remember, these workers are out there in the extreme heat during the day, and they are also working at night when temperatures are cooler.  Give them a thumbs up for the hard work they are doing.  They will appreciate it.
