A One-Sided Relationship

By  |

A one-sided relationship; you know, the kind of relationship where one person is more committed, more in love, sacrifices more, and cares more about the relationship than the other person. If you have ever been in one you know how horrible it is, right? The free loader gets to do what they want and go where they want to go and expect to be treated with all the love and respect because the one in love is so nice and forgiving. Well that relationship will not last long because it is not a relationship. It's wanting the benefits of a relationship without the commitment, love, and sacrifices on their part. It doesn't work like that with people and it doesn't work like that with God. There are so many people in church who have a one-sided relationship with God. They believe as long as God loves them that they can do and say what they want. They mimic the world and the world would never guess they had a relationship with a holy God. We know for a fact that God loves us; the question is – Do we love God and how do we show that love to him? Do we have a true relationship with Jesus Christ or is it religiosity? Somewhere at some time somebody told us the goal was heaven. Somewhere at some time somebody told us in order to get to heaven we should go to this church, say this prayer, and believe in God. Now millions of people live satisfied that they have attained their goal, they will get to heaven, and continue to live like hell. Right here, right now, I'm telling you the goal is not heaven, the goal is knowing God. Establish a two-sided relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and once you know God he will take you where he lives for all eternity, heaven.
