EBRSO Arrests Fugitive

By  |

Last Wednesday, April 22, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was contacted at 10:30 p.m. about a male and female who were stopping cars and begging for money on Hooper Road in Central.  The caller was able to give a description of both people, so when EBRSO sent officers to investigate, they were able to locate the two people in question.  The man, later identified as Jeremy James Rogers, was walking in the road on Hooper and causing cars to swerve to avoid hitting him on the partially lit street.  When the officer approached Rogers to identify him, it resulted in the suspect running from the officers and into the woods.  After a two hour search, during which several Central citizens called EBRSO to report the suspect near their homes, the officers were able to locate and detain Rogers near Moss Lea Drive.
EBRSO learned that Rogers had active warrants in both Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish.  His charges in Terrebonne Parish include Parole Violation, Disturbing the Peace, Criminal Damage to Property, and Domestic Abuse Battery.  His charges in Lafourche Parish include Violation of Parole, Aggravated Second Degree Battery (a felony), Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property (a felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Disturbing the Peace, and Contempt of Court for child support in excess of $25,000.  Rogers was booked into EBR Parish Prison where he was booked as a fugitive of Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes and charged with Resisting an Officer and Simple Obstruction of a Highway.  Thank you to the EBRSO officers for their hard work in making this arrest.
