In Memoriam: Karen Mixon

Full page photo    Karen Louise Mills Laiche Mixon, born in Ohio and a resident of Cental, passed away on March 30, 2015 at the age of 71 after a short battle with cancer.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She had an intense love of horses that she shared with all that knew her and her story telling abilities were legendary.  She was charitable to those in need, kind and giving to others.  She always had a smile to share.  
    Karen was an advocate of the Deep South Stock Horse Show Association.  She spent the last 49 years dedicating her time and energy to the promotion of Deep South and what it stood for.  She was an avid competitor and continued to show with Deep South until her body would no longer let her.  
    She is survived by her brother Stuart Mills and wife Pat; sisters Linda Mills and Nancy Mills and children Mark A. Laiche, Ty C. Mixon and Britt Chandler and husband, Jody; her grandchildren Cody Olemacher, Jourdain Mixon, Meagan Mixon, Lorelei Mixon, Tara Mixon, Chase Chandler and Jade Mixon;  Also numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 
    Karen is preceded in death by her parents Robert Mills and Lois Mills Talbot and Brother, Allan Mills.
    There will be a Memorial Reception held on Sunday, April 19th at 1:00pm at Greenoaks Reception Center located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge.  
    In Lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations in Karen’s name to the Deep South Stock Horse Show Association, 14051 Peairs Road, Zachary, LA 70791.
