CFD Battles Barn Fire and Mobile Home Fire

    A Central family was shocked to discover their barn on fire Saturday morning.  The family was unable to extinguish the fire and reported that in addition to the loss of their barn, approximately 25 chickens, 15 rabbits and 3 goats were lost. 
    As Central Fire Department apparatus responded to the to the 11:39 am alarm, firefighters observed a large column of smoke, indicating a well advanced fire.  On arrival in the 9800 block of Blackwater Road, firefighters discovered the barn totally involved, with no hope of saving the barn or live stock.
     District Six Fire Department assisted at the scene and the East Side Fire Department covered one of Central's stations.  The cause of the fire is believed to be heat generated by a light left on, to provide warmth for the animals. 
    On Sunday morning at 10:32 am, Central Fire Department assisted District Six Fire Department with a mobile home fire .  The fire was located in the 8500 block of Mickens Road and the fire was reported by neighbors at 10:32 am.  The fire was extinguished quickly with no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The home was a total loss and the cause of the fire was undetermined.
