Sunday night at 10:42 pm Central Fire Department was dispatched to the 15200 block of Frenchtown Road for a traffic accident with wires down.  On arrival, firefighters were greeted by an amazing sight. A pickup left the roadway and struck a power pole.  The impact broke the  pole in half with the top portion of the pole containing energized electrical wires and a transformer coming to rest in the bed of the pickup. The dangling energized electrical lines covered the cab of the pickup.
Fortunately, the driver of the pickup remained inside of the vehicle until power was cut by Demco.  The driver suffered only minor injuries; however many residents in the area were without power for hours.  Central Fire Chief Bill Porche cautions all drivers to remain in their vehicle if they are in an accident and power lines entangle their vehicle.
