By  |

Central, LA – Starting the week of January 5, 2015, work will begin on a safety project along Greenwell Springs Rd (LA37) between Central Thruway and Liberty Rd. This $3.4 million DOTD project involves trimming and removing trees within the DOTD right-of-way to improve safety and sight distances.
On the stretch of LA37 between Central Thruway and Magnolia Bridge Road on the weekends, the contractor will be allowed complete road closures of up to 15 minutes at a time to remove vegetation.  On the stretch of LA37 between Magnolia Bridge Road and Liberty Rd, on weekdays, allowable 15 minute road closures may take place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and on weekends, complete road closures of up to 15 minutes may take place between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Additionally, on the entire length of the project, the contractor is allowed single lane closures, controlled by flagmen, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Please be considerate of highway workers as this much needed safety project takes place over the next six months. This is part of DOTD's commitment to improving safety along this stretch of LA37. Last year, centerline rumble strips were installed and well as improved reflective striping.
