CAPA Corner: Change Happens!

    Change happens!  In certain areas of my life I anticipate and look forward to change.  For example, I look forward to the fall season in South Louisiana.  It may not be as colorful or as dramatic as the fall season in New England but 72 degrees for a high sure beats 95!  Fall brings the start of football and the anticipation of the holiday season.  I enjoy watching my grandchildren grow, experience, explore and learn new things.  I like the change that eating heathy foods can bring to my body.  However, I have to admit, I don’t always like change.  
    Change Happens! I don’t like the rise in gas prices or the fact that I can’t run a mile under 5 minutes anymore!  I’m not real comfortable with Mississippi sitting atop the rankings and our standards like LSU, Florida and Alabama are struggling.  I don’t like the fact that eating donuts, ice cream and fudge brownies can bring a change to my overall wellbeing!  I find it disruptive when every spring we suddenly spring the time ahead one hour and my 5am sleep time suddenly becomes my new 6am rise and shine! On a serious note, whether we like it or not change happens. Most of us, however, really don’t like change. We like our routines!  Changes can be disruptive, confusing, uncomfortable and hard to keep pace with.  
    Change Happens! Every four years different individuals get elected into office.  Technology is changing rapidly.  Most of today’s younger generation have no idea what an “8 track” player is.  Instead, you can now listen to music on a cell phone that you can carry around in your pocket.  That little cell phone can perform more operations than my first laptop.  Loved ones are going to give birth to new life while others pass on from this life.  Changes in our jobs can come unexpectedly.  The World political climate is constantly changing.  Seasons are going to come and go, the tide is going to rise and fall, the stock market will continually fluctuate and the weather in Louisiana is going to change.  
    Change Happens!  There is one type of change, that occurs, that can be guaranteed to be comforting, life changing, mind transforming and emotionally liberating.  Ironically, that change is due to something that is unchanging.  That change is the restoration that takes place when someone places their trust in the work brought about by the extreme unchanging love of God.  God’s love is steady and unchanging.  He is the same yesterday today and forever!  God loved us so much, that even though we were messed up, broken, tormented and feeling like a failure He sent His Son.  Jesus Christ paid the price on the cross so that we could be reconciled to God.  God wants to be your loving Father.  God wants to make your crooked path straight, your broken life whole, heal your broken heart and give you abundant life!   Want this type of change to happen?  Romans 10:9 says, “If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved!”  Put your trust in Jesus Christ and His unchanging love and see how Change Happens!
